Mr. F. Jarratt “Jerry” Broadwell, III, 65, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010. A Memorial Service was held at Central United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain, NC.
Mr. Broadwell served our country in the U.S. Army, a highly decorated pilot in Vietnam receiving awards that include Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Bronze Stars with “V” for valor and 23 Air Medals.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Mary Leigh Mauney Broadwell; and his father, Fred Jarratt Broadwell, Jr.
He is survived by his 2nd wife, Harriett Thomas Broadwell of Kings Mountain; his mother, Virginia Osborne Broadwell of Clinton, NC; 3 sons, Ryan Broadwell and wife Elaina of Austin, Texas, Rich Turner and wife Nicole of Clarksville, TN, and Jim Tharrington and wife Karla of Raleigh, NC; 3 daughters, Jennifer Broadwell of Boco Raton, FL, Talie Manning and husband Mike of St. Louis, MO, and Julie Lueck and husband Chris of Charlotte, NC; and 10 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Kings Mountain Hospice House, 251 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC 28086; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
