Farrell Arnold Thackerson, age 82, died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on May 4, 1934 he was the son of the late David Amzie and Millie Octavia Earwood Thackerson. Farrell was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Louie Allen Sunday School Class. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army. He retired from Doran Mills as a fixer. Farrell enjoyed going camping. In addition to his parents, Farrell is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Swink Thackerson; a brother, McClure Thackerson; and a sister, Joyce Floyd.

Farrell is survived by a son, Bobby Thackerson and wife Ann of Earl; a daughter, Tammy Thackerson Fail and husband Brian of Cherryville; a sister, Laura McNeilly of Shelby; a brother, Jesse Thackerson and wife Dianne of Shelby; brother-in-law, Billy Floyd of Forest City; four grandchildren, Josh Thackerson and wife Mandy, Katie Turner and husband Austin, Jordan Fail and girlfriend Brooke Conrad, and Brandon Fail and fiancée Morgan Williams; four great grandchildren, Micah Turner, Ally Thackerson, Brody Thackerson, and Colby Thackerson.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Hospice Cleveland County for all their loving care they gave to Farrell during his illness.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10:00 am at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 9:00 am until 10:00 am in the sanctuary of the church and other times at the home of Tammy and Brian Fail, 5019 Jason Black Drive, Cherryville NC 28021 or Bobby and Ann Thackerson, 2723 Blacksburg Road, Earl NC 28038.
