Fay Spearman Jones, age 90, of Pine Avenue passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She was born on July 26, 1926 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Ernest and Meriam Jenkins Spearman. Mrs. Jones was a retired assembler for Wix Filter and an established member of the former Free Saints Chapel. Fay, along with her late husband Tommy, loved to scooter poot. They were two of the greatest parents anyone could have asked for and adored their family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Elvin Jones, Sr.; son, Scottie Jones and three brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Tommy Jones, Jr. (Janet) of Cherryville, Danny Jones (Patricia) of Roan Mountain, TN, Peggy Jenkins (Terry) of Crouse, Susan Riddle (Kenneth) and Teresa Shehan (Greg) both of Cherryville; Grandchildren, Eric Jenkins (Melanie) of Crouse, Neill Jones (Katie) of Shelby, Charity Riddle-Chapman (Josh) of Mt. Holly and Anna Shehan Bowman (Nathan) of Cherryville; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Don Julian and Rev. Charles Swicegood officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM at the funeral home.
