Faye Elizabeth Smith Huss
Faye Elizabeth Smith Huss, age 82 of 7646 Dallas-Cherryville Highway, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while driving home from volunteering at the food pantry.
 
Mrs. Huss was born on April 15, 1931 in Cherokee County, SC, a daughter of the late William Bert and Maggie Smith.  She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse.  Faye was a former inspector at Blackwelder’s Textile and then was employed at Somerset Court Nursing Facility. She was a strong-willed and independent lady who liked to keep on going.
 
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Huss, Sr.; a granddaughter, Contina Poovey Flynn; and sisters, Ailene Foster and Betty Ingle.
 
Survivors include her two sons, Robert Gene Poovey (Kay) of Lincolnton and William Frank Huss, Jr. (Vickie) of Cherryville; daughter, Lori Ann “Sam” Hersey (Ronnie) of Cherryville; grandson, Robert Poovey II of Lincolnton; two step-grandsons, Ronnie Hersey II of Dallas, and Christopher Hersey of Washington, DC; three great-grandchildren, Zach, Heath, and Damon Flynn; great-step-grandson, Robbie Hersey; and numerous granddogs.
 
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Sloop and Rev. Michael Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and other times at the home of Frank Huss, 515 Redskins Dr., Cherryville NC.
