Ferne Farris Ramsey, 76, of 168 Latham Wilson Road, Lawndale, former of Ward
Street, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at home surrounded by her
loving family.
Born June 30, 1937 in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde
Farris and Vergie Whitworth Farris. She was retired from Drexel Heritage in
Morganton and was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church and the Double
Jolly's senior group. Ferne also enjoyed spending time at the Life
Enrichment Center, Shelby, where she enjoyed all the fun activities and got
fussed over by the care staff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert
Hubert Ramsey; son, Ronnie Ramsey; brother, Clyde Farris; six sisters,
Margaret Fredell, Nellie Norman, Ruth Newton, Bertha Bridges, Shirley Farris
and Helen Black; two sisters-in-law, Mary Frances Ramsey and Dorothy
Ramsey; and brother-in-law, Jim Ramsey.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Ramsey of Polkville, Charles Ramsey and
wife, Mitzi of Fallston and Tommy Ramsey and wife, Patty of Belwood; two
daughters, Sarah Earwood of Shelby and son-in-law, Randy Earwood of Lawndale
and Evon Davis and husband, Tim of Polkville; two brothers, Sam Farris of
Spartenburg, and Jim Farris of Vale; sister, Pauline Parker of Conover; 11
grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 18
step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also
survived by her little companion Lacy.
Visitation: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
