Mr. Floyd Bottoms, Jr., 81, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Bottoms was born in Guilford County, NC on December 1, 1933, a son of the late Rev. Floyd G. Bottoms, Sr. and Hazel Hedgecock Bottoms.  Floyd was retired after 23 years as a dock supervisor for Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation of Cherrvyille and also owned and operated Bottoms Auto Sales.  He was a member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Messer Bottoms of the home; a son Kenneth Ray Shamlian of Victory, TX; three step children, Sherry McWrath, Kerry and Steve Shamlian; two brothers, Larry Bottoms of Casar and Roger Allen Bottoms; also surviving are a number of grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home and Cremation Service and at other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2:00PM at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating.  The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
