Food, Music, Entertainment Will Make Life Enrichment Open House Unique
It won’t be your typical open house when Life Enrichment Center opens its doors to the public Sunday, June 26.
Just like on a normal day at the adult day care and health facility, a variety of programs and activities will be going on throughout the 27,000-square foot building just off Fallston Road. From harpist Lelia Lattimore at the front door to musician Dr. Sherlene Womack in the rear music room, visitors will hear music from diverse musicians such as the County Line bluegrass band, the Gadabouts vocal group and pianist Bryte Warrick.
In other parts of the building, visitors will be able to experience a variety of activities that the participants enjoy, including tasting samples from chefs cooking in the three kitchens and from the grill on the patio. There will be pottery and painting, pool and popcorn. Life Enrichment board members have volunteered to luxuriate in one of  the whirlpool tubs (in swimsuits, of course) and soak their feet in the whirlpool pedicure basin while enjoying a massaging, heated pedicure chair in the beauty/barber shop. Demonstrations in the health care suite and the therapy room will show the extent of care a person can receive at LEC.
The public is invited to drop in between 2 and 4 p.m. At 3 p.m., N.C. Sen. Debbie Clary will make a special announcement about a new program for caregivers.
Life Enrichment opened its doors July 1, 1980, with two participants two days a week with a goal of caring for adults who can’t or shouldn’t stay at home alone but who are not ready for or do not choose nursing home care.
The new facility is located at 110 Life Enrichment Blvd. in Shelby, just off Fallston Road, between Teddy and Meekins law offices and Cornerstone Dental Associates. For more information about the center or the open house, please call 704.484.0405. The website is www.lifeenrichmentcenter.org.
