Forrest Everett Smith, 73, of Lawndale, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Born in Cleveland County on November 11, 1947, he was a son of the late Horace Smith and Bertie Lee Stallings Smith. He was retired from Standard Crankshaft and was a member of Calvary's Cross Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Scottie Everett Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Rachel Workman Smith; two sons, Chad Everett Smith and wife Amy of Lawndale and Robert Willis of Cherryville; two daughters, Christie McNeilly and husband Paul of Casar and Dara Smith Melker and husband Greg of Lawndale; two brothers, Wes Smith of Golden Valley and Paul Cecil Smith of Morganton; sister, Eva Mae Bumgarner of Casar; six grandchildren, Ashland Willis, Jon Willis, Joshua Parker, Caroline Smith, Jada Messer and Daxton Melker and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Jones officiating.

Burial will be private.
