Frances Glynn Starnes

Frances Glynn Starnes age 97, died Friday March 11, 2016 at Cleveland Pines in Shelby. Born in Fannin County Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Goldman and Donnie Rucker Hackney. Frances was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class, the New Hope Live Wires, the current Mission Circle, and past president of the Earl Garden club. She retired from Ivy's of Charlotte and later was a part-time associate of Belk in Shelby. In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lee Starnes; three infant children, Robert Lee Starnes, Sybil Ann Starnes, and Glenda Lee Starnes; six brothers, Howard, Hugh, Woodrow, John, Nonnie, Leonard, and two sisters, Ruth Reddick and Nelle Baugh.

Frances is survived by a special niece, Virginia B. Beatty and husband Marvin Beatty II of Suffolk Va.; their children, Marvin E. Beatty IV of Canton, Virginia Lee Riffle and husband Brian of Ivor Va., Heather Anne Doyle and husband Tom of Kill Devil Hills.; their daughters, Ivy and Rhea Doyle, step children, Zack Riffle, Hannah Doyle and Simon Doyle.

Special thanks to Wendi Starnes Gragg for her love, devotion and care for Aunt Frances, and to the members of New Hope Baptist Church, and Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.

Funeral service will be held on Monday March 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Baptist Church in Blacksburg SC. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Family Life Center.
