Frances Tarlton Webb

Frances Tarlton Webb, 86, of Sterling House, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013 at Hospice House Wendover.  Born July 30, 1926 in Peachland, NC, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Hollis Tarlton and Martha Medley Sikes Tarlton.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Cecil T. Webb.  She was also sister to the late Bryce Tarlton, Hollis Tarlton, Ward Tarlton, John Tarlton, Ned Tarlton, Edna Griggs, and Emily Cagle. 

 

Frances was a graduate of the Shelby School of Nursing and completed postgraduate work at The School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She worked for many years as a public health nurse in Union, Mecklenburg, Gaston, and Cleveland counties. In addition, she was a shift supervisor at Broughton State Hospital.  She was also a dedicated partner in Webb’s Orchard, run by her husband and son. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Shelby, where she enjoyed going on memorable trips and singing in the senior adult choir.  She was also a tireless volunteer for many organizations including her church, the Neal Senior Center, and the N.C. Baptist Nurses Association. She served on the Cleveland County Board of Health and was the recipient of the Governor’s Service Award under Governor Jim Martin.

 

She is survived by her son, Harvey C. Webb and wife Jean, of Shelby; granddaughter, Amanda Buchanan and husband Mike, of Shelby; great grandchildren Cole Buchanan and Charley Kate Buchanan, also of Shelby; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

 

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Sterling House of Shelby, Dr. Rebecca Love and the staff of Hospice, and to dear friend Rachel Dixon for all of their loving and compassionate care.

 

A funeral service will be help on Friday, July 5th at 2 p.m. in Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church Shelby, with the Revs. Leland Kerr, Perry Holleman, and Carol Ann Hoard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the chapel and at other times at the home of Harvey Webb, 3803 Wildcherry Rd., Shelby, NC 28150.
