Blacksburg - Franklin Odell Lanier, 83, of 747 Bear Creek Road, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Blacksburg, Mr. Lanier was the son of the late Odell "Obie" Lanier and Lillie Ann Cobb Lanier. He was formerly the owner of Lanier's Lake in Cherokee Falls.

Mr. Lanier is survived by one brother, Curley Lanier; one sister, Doris Mullinax, and his nephew, James Lanier.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clemmeth Lanier, Lester Lanier, and Russell Austell Lanier, Sr.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 12:00-1:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:30 at Gordon Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Hambright Cemetery. David Upchurch, Rodney Upchurch, Anthony Upchurch, Michael Scott Lanier, Foy Ramsey, and Barry Sutton will serve as pallbearers.
