Fred Coleman Hughes, 81, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Hospice house of Cleveland County. A native of Rutherfod County, he was born on April 11, 1931, a son of the late Rev. Archie and Essie Mae Murray Hughes. He retired as a supervisor from Duke Energy. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and the Cliffside Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Lee; one brother, Hai Hughes; one sister, Jeanette Jordan.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Owens Hughes; two daughters, Karen Willard and husband Terry of Forest City and Debbie Wood and husband Bryan of Clermont, FL; one brother, Henry Hughes of Tarboro, NC; five grandchilren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday August 19, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Eric Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
