Fred Eugene Brackett, 86, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Peak Resources in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on June 16, 1933 a son of the late Johnny Baxter Brackett and Burzilla Earl Brackett. Mr. Brackett retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Turner Brackett; a sister, Ora Carter and two brothers, Robert and S.L. Brackett.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Jones (Wayne Abernathy) and a sister, Janice Glass.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am at Rose Hill Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 with the Rev. Max Pendleton and Dr. Brian Johnson officiating.
