Mr. Fred Smith, Jr., 82, passed away on January 15, 2026, at Atrium Health Main, Charlotte, NC. Born on April 26, 1943 in Cherryville, NC, he was the son on the late Albert Fred Smith and Mildred Rogers Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Mitchell Smith; grandson, TyKevious Smith; sisters, Dorothy Smith, Sara Foreman, and Gertrude Mitchem; brothers, Thomas Smith and Jimmy Smith; and daughter in law, Phyllis Smith.

He is survived by children, Angela Hopper (Brandon), Fred Smith III, Keisha Smith Swint (Rodney), Lamont Haynes, and Karen Regina Haynes; grandchildren, Donte Poston (Heather), Keyontae Smith, Sr, Tamarion Smith, Caniyah Smith, Taja Hopper, Ceikeyia Haynes, Da-Shun Truesdale, Dakota Smith, Rodney Swint, Jr., Rodrique Swint, Damarrious Swint, Kemauri Wray, Kira Thurman, and Trayvon Lawson; great grandchildren, Keyontae Smith, Jr., Kalazjha Smith, Keazjha Smith, Khylai Smith, Kentrell Smith, Zy'liyah Smith, Khalani Smith, Tysean Pendergrass, Kason Truesdale, and Carriana Sarratt; sisters, Joan Green, Linda Smith, Betty Martin, Mahasin El-Amin (Seifullah), Peggy Wilson (James), and Wanda Wilson (Alonza); brothers, Robert Smith (Carol) and Gene Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Grover, NC.
