| Gary D. McMurry went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2012. Gary was the son of the late
Harrill B. McMurry, and is survived by his mother, Betty T. McMurry and his brother, Larry B.
McMurry and wife, Deborah. Gary was beloved uncle to two nephews, Clint McMurry and Eric
McMurry, and wife, Summer. He also has several great-grand nieces and nephews, Aidan
McMurry, MaeLee McMurry, Joscelinn McMurry, and Lochlain McMurry.
Gary was 56 years old. As a young man, Gary attended North Shelby School, worked at Rutherford
Workshop and Shelby Workshop, and participated in many Special Olympics where he received medals
in several events. Gary loved to watch pro wrestling and listen to country music. He loved watching
his nephews play sports when they were younger. Gary loved spending time with his family most of all.
Gary smiled often and loved unconditionally.
Funeral services will be held at Beaver Dam Baptist Church on Saturday, February 4th at twelve noon.
His family will be receiving friends the hour prior to the church and grave-side services.
Burial will be in the Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Black, Dr. Paul Sorrells
and Rev. Phil Hughes will officiate.
