Gary Harling Smith, 60, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Hospice Cleveland County Wendover facility.  Born in Richmond County Georgia on March 31, 1953, he was the son of George B. Smith of Crawford Ga. and the late Kathryn Harling Davis. Gary was owner and operator of RTO Phone Center for 27 years.  He was a loving father and brother who was devoted to his job and serving the community.

 In addition to his father, Gary is survived by his son, Joshua Smith of Boone; daughter, Norah Smith of Raleigh; brother, George B. Smith of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters, Gale Cutchins and husband Jim of Virginia Beach and Brenda Hanson of Aiken, SC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  The Rev. Kathryn Spangler will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
