Gary Stephen Stamper, 59, 701 Cleveland Avenue, Grover, NC, went home to be with the Lord, January 7, 2016, at home. Born in Greensboro, NC, he was the husband of Sherry Chase Stamper of the home and was a son of Jesse Leon and Nancy Elizabeth Hartsell Stamper. He was a welder and plumber by trade and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Proclaiming The Word Ministries. He loved to read and study the Bible. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing and football.
In addition to his wife, Sherry, he is survived by two sons - Steven Lee Stamper of Burnsville, NC, and Joey Stamper of Shelby, NC; one daughter - Nicole Humphries of Shelby, NC; two step-sons - Daniel Hoyle and Donald Hoyle both of Grover, NC; one step-daughter - Amy Davis of Grover, NC; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one brother - David Stamper of Hope Mills, NC; and one sister - Kathy McCraw of Mooresboro, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother - Tim Davis.
A Celebration Of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016, 2:00 PM, at Proclaiming The Word Ministries, Grover, NC, with Rev. Jackie Nelson officiating. At other times, the family will be at the home.
