George A.C. Beattie, Jr., age 101, of Shelby passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at The Greens at Gastonia.

Born in Washington, Va on October 29, 1922, he is preceded in death by his parents George Andrew Beattie & Mary Agnes Gales Beattie.

After high school he served in the United States Army Air Corp. for almost 6 years as a Technical Sergeant where he honorably served during World War II. After his courageous service to the country, he worked as an engineer at American Airlines.

George was a long-time member of Shelby Presbyterian Church and enjoyed flying and working on aircraft. He was known for his ability to successfully manage finances.

Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, JoAnn Moore Beattie. Also left to cherish his memory are several nieces and nephews.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Shelby Presbyterian Church with Rev. Drew Mangione officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in Ellis Hall of Shelby Presbyterian Church.
