George Bennett Kountz III went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2013.  George was born in Thomasville, Georgia on May 12, 1941.  He lived in Florida until moving to Casar, North Carolina in 2008.  He was preceded in death by his parents George Bennett Kountz II and Charlotte Prescott Kountz.  He married Theodosia Griffin in 1963.  George was an Eagle Scout and served in the United States Marine Corp Reserve.  He retired from the Florida Forest Service after 30 years of service.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Casar, North Carolina.  George had a great love for the outdoors and the simple things of life.

He is survived by his wife, Theodosia; daughter Rachel Kountz Elliott and husband Doyle; son, Ashley Bennett Kountz and wife Tonya of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Beverly Ayres of Marietta, Georgia; brother-in-law Bob Griffin of Florida; six grandchildren; three nieces; five nephews; lifelong friend, Randy Pearce and his wife Jill, who is Theodosia’s sister of Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Casar, North Carolina.  Officiating Pastor is Jamie Bridges.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
