Mr. George Dewey Hipps, Jr., 80, of 124 Elam Street, Lawndale, NC, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010. Services were held at Hudson Memorial Baptist Church, Lawndale, NC. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hipps served our country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey Hipps and Lydia Elevena Hoyle Hipps; 1 son, George Hipps; and 1 brother, J.T. Hipps.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie Mae Hull Hipps; 1 step-daughter, Karen Sue Earney of Rutherford County; 1 brother, William David Hipps of Washington State; and 3 sisters, Selma Muriel Staubus of Poughkeppsie, NY, Frances Orelia Batt of Albuquerque, NM and Betty Jo Tarr of Stockbridge, GA.
