George P. Howell, age 68, of Mooresboro, NC, died Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born November 12, 1945 in Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late Chancey Howell and Teresa Cypher Howell. He worked most of his life in construction as a roofer. His passion was music, which included playing the guitar, singing, and working as a disc jockey. He also enjoyed dancing. George was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Wess Howell of Shelby; son, Michael P. Howell of Long Island; two daughters, Kim Cootner also of Long Island and Dawn O’Connell of Port Orange, FL; nine grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Plainview Baptist Church with Reverend Marshall Dill officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
