George Roberts Sperling, age 62 died Monday January 4, 2015 at Wendover Hospice. Born in Cleveland County on November 25, 1953 he was the son of the late Charles Coleman Sperling Sr. and Nell Roberts Sperling. George was a 1972 graduate of Shelby High School and he received a Bachelor's of Arts from Wofford College. He was an active member of First Baptist Church. He worked in the family business at Loy's Men Shop and later got into Real Estate property management and as a Substitute Teacher for Cleveland County Schools. He was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his son. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Coleman Sperling (Charlie) and John Jefferson Sperling.

George is survived by a son, George Coleman "Cole" Sperling of Boone and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday January 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will follow at Ross Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Ladies Parlor an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
