George Thomas Jones, 83, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.  A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Buren Max and Idella Green Jones.  Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Miles Jones and William Jones; and three sisters, Roslin Holland, Nell Southard and Libby Panther.  Mr. Jones was a member of Lattimore Baptist Church.  He was a lifetime farmer and gardner.

Mr. Jones is survived by his brother, Jack Jones of Lattimore; his sister, Mary Pannell of Ellenboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home in Shelby.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Lattimore Baptist Church in Lattimore.  Dr. Max Burgin will be officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.  At other times the family will be at the home of Wanda and Rick Nixon, 137 Westlee Street, Shelby, NC.
