George William Scruggs
 FOREST CITY - George William Scruggs, 75, of Chase High Road, Forest City, died on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County. A native of Cherokee County, South Carolina, he was born on March 2, 1937, a son of the late Lawrence and Edna Campbell Scruggs. He retired as a Supervisor from Fiber Industries after more than 20 years of service. He also worked as a Supervisor for MPI (Southern Fine Blanking) for over 20 years. Mr. Scruggs was a member of Prospect Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
 
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, May Ruth Jolley. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nadine Cannon Scruggs; one daughter, Crystal Scruggs Deyton and husband Keith of Forest City; two granddaughters, Shay Deyton and Brooke Deyton; one brother, Gene Scruggs and wife Elaine of Cliffside; two sisters, Shirley Greene of Harris and Velma Starns of Forest City; numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernie Cole, Rev. John Godfrey and Rev. Ray Hopper officiating. Burial will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home.
