Fountain Inn -- Gilbert Subastus Porter, 75, of 532 Knickerbocker Estate, passed away Wednesday, February 7th, 2018, at his residence.

Born in Blacksburg, he was the widower of Blanche Waters Porter, his wife of 33 years, and the son of the late James E. Porter and Pauline Graham Porter. Mr. Porter previously worked in constuction and was of Church of God faith.

Mr. Porter is survived by one son, Eugene Porter, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Teresa Ayers and husband, Roger, of Blacksburg; one sister, Oveda Porter Atkinson of Blacksburg; four grandchildren, Evelyn Elaine Porter, Subastus Eugene Porter, Jr., Tina Ayers Harris, and Blanche Olivia Underwood; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a special friend, Bernice Williams.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James B. Porter.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 11th, 2018, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at New Harvest Ministries. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Ronald Smalley and Rev. Barry Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 101 Mountain View Drive, Blacksburg, SC.
