Gladys Carter McKnight
 Mrs. Gladys Carter McKnight, 84, of 309 Gardner St., died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late A G and Eunice Darby Carter. She was a former member of Martin Street United Methodist Church for many years, due to the church closing, she moved her membership to Lafayette Street United Methodist Church where she is currently a member. She was a devoted Christian, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, a true family arch and a mother to all who needed one. She had a love of gardening her pink, yellow and red roses.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Weldon McKnight; 2 sons, Kenneth and Dennis McKnight; one grandson, Stephen Andrew McKnight; one son-in-law, Ben Smith; four brothers, Clem, Jimmy, Roy, and Frank Carter; and one sister, Retha Smith.

SURVIVED: She is survived by one son, Stephen McKnight and wife Joyce of Shelby; one daughter, Rhonda Smith of Largo, FL; one daughter-in-law, Luann McKnight of Lawndale; two sisters, Margaret Drake of Charlotte NC, and Iola Sondermark of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Timothy McKnight and wife Becky of Weaverville, NC, Travis McKnight of Shelby, Tammy McKnight Bumgardner of Lawndale, Amy Moore, Terry and Sheena Bright; one step-grandchild, Laura Aggerton; two great-grandchildren, Andrew McKnight of Lawndale, Samuel McKnight of Weaverville; one step great grandchild, Jonathon Jones; and her good friend, Bill Lynn.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday at Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby and other times at her home. 

CLERGY: Rev. Dr. Thomas R. Steagald and Rev. Len Byers will be officiating. 

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Park
