Mrs. Gladys Scism Hamrick, 97, resident of  511 Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain, NC,  passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Services were held at Patterson Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hamrick was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Ben Cleophas Hamrick; her parents, John William and Sarah Louise Green Scism; 1 son, Kenneth Hamrick; a grandson, Jason Dover; 3 sisters, Rosavee Lovelace, Helen Lovelace, and Thelma Allen; and 6 brothers, Grady Faye Scism, Elmer Scism, Mearl Scism, Earl Scism, Max Scism and Lawrence Scism.

She is survived by 1 son, William Hamrick and wife Carolyn of Cartersville, GA; 3 daughters, Maxine H. Williams and husband Johnny, and Rachel H. Dover and husband Paul, all of Kings Mountain, NC, and Sara H. Weaver and husband Reginald of Oxford, NC; 1 daughter-in-law, Betty Hamrick of Morganton, NC; 1 sister, Marjorie Scism Neal of Kings Mountain, NC; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
