Glenn Johnson
Glenn Howard Johnson, 82, of 105 Magnolia Lane, Lawndale, died Sunday, April
29, 2012 at Crawley Memorial Hospital in Boiling Springs.
Born October 26, 1929 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Loyd
Lester Johnson and Brunie Hunt Johnson.  Glenn was retired after 45 years of
service from NC Department of Transportation- Division of Highways as a
supervisor for the Traffic Services Department. He also worked 10 years for
Cleveland Eye Clinic and Surgery Center. Glenn was a lifetime member of
Kistler's United Methodist Church, Lawndale American Legion, Lawndale
Masonic Lodge # 486 and also served in the US Army during the Korean
Conflict.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers,
Blaine, Bob and Paul Johnson; and a sister, Diane Ekard.
Survivors include his wife of  58 years, Betty Peeler Johnson; daughter,
Glenda Childers and husband, Chris; and two grandchildren, Christopher Glenn
Childers and Christa LeeAnn Childers; three sisters, Irene Luckadoo and
husband, Eugene of Lawndale, Jackie Bruner and husband, Bobby of Hildebran
and Linda Proctor and husband, Danny of Lawndale; two sister-in-laws, Joan
Johnson and Rachel Johnson both of Lawndale and a brother-in-law, Tommy
Ekard of Hickory; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday,  Kistler's United Methodist Church,
Lawndale.  The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the
service.
Officiating: Rev. David Hiatt
Burial will follow in Kistler's United Methodist Church Cemetery with
Military Graveside Rites
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to, Kistler's United Methodist
Church, c/o Bob White,  837 E. Main Street, Shelby, NC 28150.
