Grace Etta Patterson, age 80 passed away  Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Peak Resources in Shelby.  Born in Polk County, TN on April 2, 1934 to William Hasson and Mary Edith McFarland.

She was a devoted wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Her family lovingly called her Nanny.  Her passion was music.  Grace began singing at age 5 and continued doing so throughout her lifetime.

Although Grace became blind she never allowed that to slow her down or temper her zest for life.

She was an inspiration to everyone that knew her.  She lived life following God's word and served him through his blessing to her - song.  Grace sang in the choir at Bethel Baptist Church, at the Shelby Lions Club Christmas parties and multiple other events.

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, church, and community.

Grace was preceded in death by her daughter Jane Pruitt, her parents, and eight siblings.

She is survived by her husband Clarence Patterson, her daughter Helen Patterson, her son-in-law Byron Pruitt, her grandchildren John Ashby Ware, Heather Sadler, Ariel Lesmerises, and Hasson Bright, 11 great-grandchildren including the oldest Kaleb, whom she raised like her own son, her sister Magdeline, and numerous special nieces and nephews that she "mothered".

Grace had a special bond with Wylie and Dianne Lee, and Scott and Kim Patterson.  She loved their daughters, Victoria, Brittany, and Scottie like they were her own.

The family would like to thank Grace's doctors and the staff at Peak Resources for their loving care.
