Gracie McGinnis Willingham, 99, of Cliffside Highway, Gaffney, died on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Peachtree Centre of Gaffney. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on June 21, 1915, a daughter of the late C.T. McGinnis and Mary Susan Holland McGinnis. She graduated from Asheville Normal and Teachers College and retired as a teacher from Ellenboro Elementary School. She taught first grade in 7 schools in North and South Carolina. She enjoyed her hobbies as an artist, author, poet, doing crafts, health clinic volunteer and traveling. She was a member of State Line Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elford Clyde Willingham, Jr.; her brother, Broadus McGinnis; her sisters, Effie Mosteller, Jannie Blanton and Mary Esther Wyatt. She is survived by her son, Terry Willingham and wife Shirley of Gaffney, SC; one granddaughter, Catherine Davis and husband Enrique of Simpsonville, SC; her grandsons, David Willingham of Gaffney, SC and John Willingham of Chesnee, SC; great granddaughter, Diane and husband Greg; great grandson, Steven; great-great grandchildren, Brianna, Izzy and Logan; special niece, Beth Klepper of Pacolet, SC; her beloved pet, a toy poodle, Mollie.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at The A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joey Cantrell, Rev. Kris Showen, Rev. Ray Heffner and Rev. John Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in the State Line Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
