Blacksburg -- Grover "JR" Pennington Jr, 74, of 136 Woody Road, passed away Sunday, January 27th, 2019, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Carol Ruppe Pennington and the son of the late Grover Pennington Sr and Estelle Lanier Pennington. He previously worked as a mechanic and was a member of Kings Creek Church of God.

In addition to his wife, JR is survived by two sons, Gregory Keith "Jimbo" Pennington Sr and Ricky Joe Pennington; two brothers, Lewis and Jerry Pennington; one sister, Maxine Parker; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy Wayne Pennington Sr; a daughter, Lorrine Hardin; and three sisters, Lois Hall, Annie Vaughn, and Brenda Stroupe.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 1st, 2019, at 4:00PM in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel.
