Harris Teeter thanks its generous shoppers for participating in the campaign
Harris Teeter and its generous shoppers raised $214,778 during its Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign October 27 – November 30, 2010; the company will donate a combination of Harris Teeter gift cards and food to its food bank partner agencies using the dollars raised during the campaign.
To make it easy for customers to participate in the campaign, Harris Teeter cashiers sold $5 and $20 Harvest Feast donation cards in each of its stores.  The company also accepted donations of non-perishable products in collection bins in its lobbies and hosted a variety of fundraising events in its marketing areas to raise additional awareness for the fight against hunger.
To supplement the Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign, Harris Teeter and its vendors also assembled 3,250 Thanksgiving food bags for community members in need in both Charlotte and Raleigh.  Harris Teeter donated the bags to both Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina to distribute to the community.  Harris Teeter also participated in the Redskins Harvest Feast Thanksgiving bag assembly and distribution in Washington, DC through which the company reached nearly 20,000 community members in Prince Georges County who face food insecurity.  Harris Teeter also hosted the Harvest Feast Marathon in Charlotte and participated in Operation Homefront at the DC Armory through which it helped provide 400 military families with a holiday meal.
“Harris Teeter is committed to ending hunger in the communities it serves,” said Fred Morganthall, President of Harris Teeter.   “Our shoppers have proven their generosity in the past and I knew they would be able to make a difference this holiday season.”
Harris Teeter launched Harvest Feast in 2003 and has raised $963,441 for its food bank partners through the campaign, as well as hundreds of thousands of pounds of non-perishable food items.
