Hazeline "Susie" Ford Lowe

Hazeline "Susie" Ford Lowe age 92, died Wednesday July 8, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born in Gaston County on April 14, 1923, she was the eldest daughter of the late Dwight Russel and Lettie Vera Penley Ford. Susie moved to Shelby with her husband and daughter in 1946 to open Barnetts Jewelry Store. She finished Business School and worked as a bookkeeper and in sales at Bill Blanton Jewelry. She was a designer for Maxwell Brothers when they opened in Shelby. She worked until she retired at age 75, from Charles Duvall CPA Office in Shelby. Susie was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Shelby. She was a member of the Faith and Love Sunday School Class and the circle Jean Teague Bible Studies. She also taught the Junior Girls Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Susie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, John Melvin Lowe and a great grandson, Christopher John Hofer.

Susie leaves her family and friends with beautiful memories and love for all which include; a daughter, Mary Yvonne Crawley and husband Kenneth of Shelby; two granddaughters, Tiffaney Hofer and husband Howard II of Spartanburg SC. and Heather Taylor and husband Thomas of Belmont; four great grandchildren, Arthur Maxwell Hofer, Mackenzie Nicole Hofer, Thomas Lowe Taylor and Mary Sloan Taylor; two sisters, Dorothy Ford Parker of Lattimore and Betty Ford Self of Gastonia; a brother, William Russel Ford of Kings Mountain; and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

The family would like to thank Sterling House of Shelby, Peak Resources of Cherryville, Carolinas Medical Center, and Susie's nurse and friend, Jennifer Frady for the wonderful care and treatment that Susie received.
