Helen Joan Mellon Burgess, 81, of Lincolnton formerly of Casar, passed away on Tuesday, October 17t, 2023 at Atrium Health - Lincoln.

Born in Cleveland County, on July 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Ivey T.C. Millon and Pauline Swink Millon. Helen was a retired deputy from Burke County Sheriff's Office and the Gaurd House at Pine Mountain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wendell Hoyle; a daughter, Wanda Tate; two brothers, Larry Mellon and Harold Mellon and a sister, Marie Johnson.

Survivors include a sister, Carolyn McGinnis of Lincolnton and two brothers, Thomas Mellon of Cherryville and Ricky Mellon of Casar and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will hold private services.
