Helen Lee Weathers

Helen Lee Weathers left Cleveland Regional Medical Center for her eternal home, on Sat., May, 17, 2014.  She was the oldest of nine children, born to the late Edgar Owenby Lee Sr., and Sallie Gantt Lee.  She was 95 years old, having been born Oct. 12, 1918, in Cleveland County.  Helen was a wonderful Christian lady and a role model for each of her siblings.  She grew up in a loving and caring household.  As a young girl, she joined Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.  On March 5, 1939, she married Samuel “S.M.” Monroe Weathers Jr.  She then moved her membership to Central United Methodist Church to be with her husband.  When Aldersgate United Methodist Church was formed in 1954, the Weathers family joined the good folks that started the new church.  Helen Weathers was the oldest living charter member of Aldersgate at the age of 95, when she moved on to the church triumphant.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Douglas Lee; sisters, Sarah Virginia lee, Mabel Smith, Louise Wellmon, Kay Noblitt, and JoAnn Crowder.

SURVIVED:  She is survived by her two sons, Gerald Weathers and Phil Weathers and wife Patti, granddaughter, Mary Fox and husband Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Blair Fox; sister, Nancy Rogers and husband Heyward; brother Edgar Owenby “Buddy” Lee Jr., and wife Doris, all of Shelby; and many nieces and nephews, each being special to her.

Matthew 11 – Jesus said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Rest in peace dear Helen, all is well.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES:  2PM, Tuesday, at Cleveland Memorial Park

VISITATION:  The family will receive friends Monday, 6-8PM, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
