Mrs. Helen Virginia Craig Byrd, 95, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Services were held at First Baptist Church in Shelby. Interment followed at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband, George Vernon Byrd, Sr; an infant daughter, Beverly Kaye Byrd; her parents, Rev. Walter Boone Craig and Willie Bell Stradley Craig; her brothers, Garth Winston Craig and Paul Samuel Craig; sisters, Grace Edna Craig Lee, Claire Bell Craig Lovelace, and Willie Ruth Craig Black.
She is survived by her sons, George Vernon Byrd, Jr. and wife Valerie of Homer, Alaska and Barry Ellis Byrd and his wife Ann of North Port, Washington; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
