Help Harris Teeter Support The Fight Against Breast Cancer
In 2006, Harris Teeter launched its yourwellness initiative to provide shoppers with evidence-based guidance on important health topics including breast cancer awareness.  In that same year, Harris Teeter opened a new chapter in wellness and became a part of the Pink Ribbon Produce Campaign to promote National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

During the month of October, Harris Teeter and participating vendors in its Farmers Market will donate a minimum of $15,000 to local affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure through Pink Ribbon Produce.  Every time a shopper purchases products from Sunlight, Gurda Gardens, Double Diamond Acres, Nature Sweet, Fresh Express, Beach Side, Nature’s Way, Earthbound Farm, Country Fresh, Alpine Fresh, Beach Street Farms or Dole, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen.

Shoppers also might have noticed that, for the first time ever, the dairy case is pink.  DANNON is ‘painting the shelf pink’ with specially marked DANNON packages to help fight breast cancer.  On behalf of Harris Teeter, DANNON will donate $10,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on top of that which the company will donate during its national promotion Give Hope with Every Cup.

Harris Teeter’s Fresh Foods Market is also supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness month during a promotion called Project Pink.  The Fresh Foods Market will offer cakes, cookies, and cupcakes decorated pink and a percentage of the proceeds of those items purchased will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Lastly, Harris Teeter will sell general merchandise items for a limited time during the month of October in support of specific breast cancer awareness organizations.  Product selection will vary by store and is available while supplies last.  A portion of the proceeds from sales of No Nonsense Aromatherapy Cozy Socks will be donated to Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test, 50% of the profits from sales of Russell Pink Ribbon Socks will be donated to Duke Cancer Research, and $1 for every Brisco Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt sold will be donated to Susan G. Komen.

Harris Teeter is enthusiastic about partnering with its vendors during the month of October and raising both money and awareness for breast cancer research.  The company hopes that the programs offered at the store level will engage customers in a fun and rewarding way and help spread the message about breast cancer and other wellness issues that may affect them in their daily lives.
