Henry Lee Weathers Jr., age 71, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Mecklenburg County on February 19, 1945 he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Lillie Taylor Weathers. Henry was an active member of Shelby Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and made Communion Bread for 16 years. He was a member of Rotary Club. Henry attended UNC Chapel Hill. He returned home and worked at his family owned business, The Shelby Daily Star, as Head of the Advertising Department. Henry and his wife Jackie are members of theBlowing Rock Country Club, where they spend Summers, and formerly of Cleveland County Club. Henry was a loving,devoted husband and father. He was a great cook, enjoyed golfing and competitive shooting. Henry has so many friends that are like family to him and Jackie.

In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by his brother, James Yates Weathers; grandparents, Lee B. and Williewee Wiseman Weathers, and Judge E. Y. and Alice Pender Taylor Webb; and mother-in-law, Maude Greene.

Henry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Greene Weathers; a son, Henry Lee Weathers III "Tripp" and wife Holland 'Holly" of Los Angeles CA.; a daughter, Jacquelyn Anne "Anney" Weathers and husband Peter Ouellette of Chicago IL; aunt, Pearl A. Weathers of Shelby; uncle, James B. Taylor of Shelby; niece, Lucy Lewis Weathers; and a host of other loving family.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Shelby Presbyterian Church with Dr. Luke Harkey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Private burial will be held at Sunset Cemetery.
