Hospice helps locate medals for Veteran patient

Terry Wayne McKenzie, a Vietnam Veteran, under the care of Hospice Cleveland County, does not have the ribbons and medals awarded him during his time of service in the US Marine Corps due to some unfortunate circumstances. The patient requested Hospice Social Worker, Emily Crocker-Underwood, to aid him in obtaining the ribbons and medals. Emily worked diligently also enlisting the help of Congressman Patrick McHenry's office. Her persistence paid off and the final metal is currently in the mail and on its way!
During McKenzie's' time in serve, he served in Vietnam and was awarded the Combat Action ribbon (Vietnam), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 bronze campaign stars, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross Color w/ palm and frame), Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Action Color w/ palm and frame), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge.
In addition to presenting the medals, Hospice WHV Chaplain, Terry Floyd will have a Pinning Ceremony to show gratitude to the patient for his service. The ceremony will be held at the Hospice Cleveland County Administration Building Conference Room on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 9:30am. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Hospice at 704-487-4677.
