Howard Franklin Shuford, age 84 died Saturday September 28, 2013 at Wendover Hospice. Born in Cleveland County on October 21, 1928 he was the son of the late Robert L. and Maudie Grigg Shuford. He was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and worked for 41 years at Williams Oil Company, retiring as Senior Vice President. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He is preceded in death by four brothers and their wives; Clayton and Gladys Shuford, Loren and Pauline Shuford, Ernest and Lillian Shuford, and Ed and Madeline Shuford; a sister and her husband; Kay and Ronnie Barrett.

Mr. Shuford is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Gold Shuford; two sons, Phil Shuford and wife Debbie of Charlotte, and Alan Shuford and wife Tammy of Shelby; three sisters, Dorothy Martin, Mae Whitener and husband Bill, and Betty Weaver; a brother, Alvin Shuford and wife Nellie; and four grandchildren, Jason Shuford, Kali Shuford, Karla Shuford, and Samantha-Kate Shuford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Sylvia Wilhem officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
