Howard Hamrick, age 95, of Forest City, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born August 19, 1920 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Buford Hamrick and Bessie Vassey Hamrick. He was a farmer most of his life and also worked for at the Caroleen Mill for several years. Howard had the distinction of being the oldest living male member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife of forty years, Virginia Allen Hamrick and his second wife of eighteen years, Ruth Lancaster Hamrick; one brother, Reid Hamrick and sister, Reba Hamrick.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Allen Hamrick and wife, Sue of Bostic and Randy Hamrick and wife, Myra of Forest City; daughter, Janet Webb and husband, Dewey of Forest City. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Anthony Green of Ellenboro, Preston Hamrick and wife, Amy of Forest City, Adam Hamrick and wife, Jill also of Ellenboro; four great-grandchildren, Cameran, Grayson, Addalynn and Sawyer Hamrick.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
