Irene Dixon Bailey, age 80, of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, December 20, 2015 at her residence.
Born July 13, 1930 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Bratcher Dixon and Hattie Alma Dixon. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1948 and worked for Stonecutter and Tanners for several years. She also worked for PPG for many years before her retirement. She was a member of Spencer Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, sewing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Hugh Herman Dixon and sister, Clara Belle Branscom.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, J.P. Bailey; two sons, Larry Dean Bailey of Cheraw, SC and Alan Scott Bailey and wife, Sherry of Rutherfordton. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Justin Scott Bailey, Tyler Dane Bailey and great-grandson, Sheridan Scott Bailey.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Jerry Ruppe and Reverend Bruce Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the cemetery.
