Iris Ann Bland
GROVER - Iris Ann Bland, 78, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2106, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cherokee County, SC to the late Charles and Mattie Painter Fowler on January 27, 1938. She is also predeceased by her husband, Raymond Bland; brothers, L.M. Fowler, Bob Fowler, Carl Fowler and Ebb Fowler; sister, Edith Moore.
Iris is survived by her children, Janet Guyton (Tony), Jimmy Hambright (Kay), Tony Hambright and Terri Horton (Bobo); grandchildren, Britney Horton, Casey Horton, Kayla Gabbard (Walt), Brandi Bradley, Dylan Owens (Jamie), Vicki Townsley (Paul), Sheldon Lanier (Kim), Adam Hambright and Kaylee Hambright; great-grandchildren, Aleah Mullinax, Boone Gabbard, Waylon Gabbard, Alivia Owen, Luke Townsley, Alexis Townsley, Tristan Lanier and Jaden Hammett; great-great-grandchild, Andre Poole; sister, Alma Sue Childers.
She went to school and worked for and received her LPN. She greatly cared about others and helped them when they were in need. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching Soap Operas, her favorite one being The Young and The Restless. She also loved being around all types of animals. She had dogs named Ivy and Coco. She loved being around her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. She is loved and will be truly missed.
A memorial service for Iris Ann Bland will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 following the morning Church Service at 1:00 p.m.at Christ The King Church, 1311 South Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28152 with Pastor Vernon Moore officiating. Visitation will be held after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wendover Hospice, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
