J.W. "Dub" Beaver
Jake William "Dub"  Beaver, 75, of Ellenboro, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Hospice House of Rutherford County in Forest City. 

Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Johnny Lee Beaver and Lillian Maxine Jones Beaver.  Mr. Beaver retired from the NC Department of Transportation as a welder after thirty years of service. He was a member of Polkville Baptist Church, former assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop # 290 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Shelby, and a volunteer for
the Cleveland- Rutherford Kidney Association.  Dub enjoyed serving his community especially cooking barbeque for a variety of organizations.  His hobbies included wood carving, welding, fabricating, and golf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Sandy Fay Smith and brother, Billy Beaver.

Mr. Beaver is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Tuila Short Beaver; son, Roger Newton and wife, Melanie of Concord; grandchildren, Travis Demetro and wife, Lindsey of Kings Mountain, Carissa Buchanan of Huntersville, and Lamar Smith and wife, Kristy of Indian Trail; six great grandchildren, Blake, Luke, Maddy, Mason, Aiden and Zoey; brothers, John Beaver, Jimmy Beaver, Norman Beaver, Tommy Beaver, Ronnie Beaver and Roger Beaver; sisters, Joyce Brown and Lois Hull.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

The funeral will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Polkville Baptist Church with Revs. Rick Hamrick and Paul Scott officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.   Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston.
