Jack Andrew Ridings Sr. age 82 died Wednesday November 27, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in Rutherford County on June 13, 1931 he was the son of the late Garland Roosevelt and Lilly Cansadie Camp Ridings. Jack served in the Army’s 1st Calvary during the Korean War as a medic. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He worked as a fixer in textiles until his retirement. He loved to hunt with his boys and play golf. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by a son, Jack Andrew Ridings Jr.; a brother, a sister, and a great grandson.

Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnn Byers Ridings; five sons, Alan Ridings and wife Patti of Shelby, Gene Ridings and wife Teressa of Polkville, Jody Ridings and wife Diedra of Shelby, David Ridings and wife Lisa of Shelby, and Michael Ridings and wife Liane of High Point; two sisters, three brothers, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Celebration of life, with Military Honors, will be held on Friday November 29 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Rev. Forrest Ridings officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00pm until 2:00 pm.
