Jackie Tallent Jones

"If death should beckon me with an outstretched hand, and whisper softly of an unknown land. I should not be afraid to go, for though the path I do not know. I take death's hand without fear. For God who safely brought me here will also take me safely back, and though in many times I lack, he will not let me go alone into the valley that's unknown. So I reached out and took death's hand, and God will take me to the Promise Land."

Jackie Tallent Jones, age 64, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at Hospice Wendover with her family at her side. Born in Cleveland County on April 29, 1952 she was the daughter of the late Coy and Dora McNeilly Tallent. Jackie was a member of Ross Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Jackie is preceded in death by a niece Tammy McClure and a nephew Chris Talent.

Jackie is survived by a son, Rodney Lee Price of Shelby, a daughter, Dawn Oberle Barrett and husband Jerry of Shelby; Ric Oberle and Jerry Oberle and wife Patty Hull of Glenville; one and only granddaughter, Brittney Victoria Barclift and fiancée Chad Kepley of Gastonia; two great granddaughters, Linley Victoria Barclift and Alainah Dawn Barclift; two sisters, Geraldine Wiggins and husband Raymond of Shelby and Pat Daves of Wilmington; two brothers, Randy Tallent and wife Sandy of Shelby and Doug Talent and wife Ruth of Wilmington; one uncle, Forest McNeilly and wife Ruth of Casar; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved dearly.

Never would I have thought that our mother would have found the man of her life "Sam Jones" whom would be kind, giving, gentle, loving and loyal to her. He made her life a beautiful cycle and their journey began and it was what made her happy. But without a doubt...the most wonderful thing is knowing they are together again.

Her second family which was not blood related whom she considered her brothers and sister also, Willis Toms of Charlotte, Gary Toms of Hagerstown, MD, Ervin Toms of Calabash, and LaMarthine Gibson of Kings Mountain; and their mother, whom she considered a second mother, the late Easdale Toms.

Sure as we know that tomorrow the sun will rise, you will always be the "Best Grammie" to Linley and Alainah.

A funeral service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the home of Dawn Barrett, 105 Eagle Spur Trail. Shelby, NC 28150.
