Jacqueline Anne Davis Mooring of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away peacefully February 22, 2016 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. All her children were with her the day before to celebrate her 86th birthday.
Jackie was born in Mt. Olive, NC, the daughter of the late Alonzo James and Margaret Wheeler Davis. She was a graduate of Queens College in Charlotte, NC. She met her future husband, Stewart Lee Mooring, while on a beach trip with friends. They married in 1953. Jackie taught high school for a few years and then became a homemaker following the birth of her children. She dedicated her life to her love of her church, her friends, her family, and her two passions - gardening and bird watching.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stewart Lee Mooring. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Lee Mooring and wife Susie, Frank Mooring and wife Donna, and daughter Margaret Graham and husband Reece; grandchildren Josh Mooring, Beth Belford, Lindsay Roddy, Gage Mooring, Jon Mooring, Jared Mayse, Bryson Mooring, Will Graham and Stuart Graham; two brothers Jimmie Davis and William Davis and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, 6-8 pm at Crowe's Mortuary in Rutherfordton.
A service to celebrate the life of Jackie will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church at 2 pm, with the Rev. .Don Scofield officiating. Burial will follow at the Rutherfordton City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church 252 N. Washington St. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
