James Coleman (J. C.) Gordon, Sr
Altha, Florida - Mr. James Coleman (J. C.) Gordon, Sr., 83, entered in the presence of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 15, 2013 at his home in Altha, Florida following an extended illness. He was born and raised in Gaffney, South Carolina and had been a longtime resident of Loxahatchee, Florida prior to living the last few years between his children in Lake City and Altha, Florida. He was the son of the late William Charles Gordon and Julia Pennington Gordon. He specialized in the construction of outside billboards before retiring and was a avid fisherman.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving two tours of duty in Korea.

He is survived by his children, James Coleman Gordon Jr. and his wife Janet of Loxahatchee, Florida; Becky Holloway and husband Dewayne of Lake City, Florida, and Florence Simmons and husband Seldon of High Springs, Florida; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Thelma Estelle Flanagan and a very special friend Lucy Nixs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, William (Bill) Gordon of Blacksburg, and Walt Gordon, Hershel Gordon, and Floyd Gordon and one sister, Kathleen Gordon Hughey, all of Gaffney, SC.

Memorial services with military honors will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Providence Village Baptist Church, located at 9316 NW CR 245, Lake Butler, Fl. with Pastor Dax Summerhill and Rev. Jack Caldwell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Sheppard's Chapel TV Ministry, PO Box 416, Gravette, Arkansas 72736.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home, 458 South Marion Avenue, Lake City, FL 32025.
