James Edward Wicks
James Edward Wicks, 71, of 1422 Brickhouse Road, passed away Monday, April 28th, 2014, at his residence.

Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Louise Gordon Wicks and the son of the late James Grady and Florence Wicks. Mr. Wicks retired from textiles and was a member of McKowns Mountain Baptist Church. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wicks is survived by one son, James Edward Wicks, II and wife, Starla, of Gaffney; one daughter, Lisa Kirby and husband, Billy, of Gaffney; one brother, Virgil Wicks, of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Brandon Kirby, Amber McCullough, Alicia Kirby, Danielle Crawford, Jeanetta Wicks, and James Wicks, III; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wicks was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas, Ronnie, and Donnie Wicks; and one sister, Diane Detter.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Wicks Residence. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 1st, at 11:00 am at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Moore officiating. Robbie Turner, Scott Raines, Raymond Burke, Chris Reynolds, David Hansen, Christian Crawford, and Josh Wicks will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 403 West Montgomery Street, Gaffney, SC 29341.

The family will be at the residence.
