Mooresboro- James Edwin Brooks, 79, of Mooresboro, died Wednesday, January 9,2013 at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he was born December 18,1933, a son of the late `Grady Buren and Dorothy Edna Greene Brooks. He was retired from Gardner Electric after 30 years of service. He was a member of Race Path Baptist Church. He was also a founding member of the Ellenboro Fire Department serving over 40 years, served on the Board of Directors for the Ellenboro Fire Department for over 30 years and was the former fire chief.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Toney Brooks; one son, Danny Brooks and wife Kathy of Mooresboro; one daughter, Lynn Hoppes and Husband Shannon of Ellenboro; one brother, Grady Brooks and wife Cindy of Ellenboro; four Grandchildren, Ashely Brooks, Casey Brooks, Matthew McDaniel, Brooke McDaniel; three step grandchildren; Christy Jordan, Travis Reep, Keltize Hoppes, and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 13,2013 at Race Path Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Cooper and Rev. John Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery
Visitation will be held Saturday January 12,2013 from 6:00pm-8:00PM at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
